Step Outside and View the Lunar Eclipse
The deep partial lunar eclipse is visible August 27-28 across much of the United States. While not a total eclipse, it's very close with 96.2% of the Moon becoming obscured. The outcome will be a deep red hue alongside a thin sliver of silver, offering an entrancing view for both naked eye viewing and photography, with peak time being shortly after midnight eastern time.
The lunar eclipse window begins at 9:23 p.m. ET on August 27
The eclipse ends at 1:52 a.m. ET on August 28
The partial eclipse phase lasts 3 hours and 18 minutes
Peak maximum occurs at 12:12 a.m. on August 28
which is 11:12 p.m. CDT, 10:12 p.m. MDT, and 9:12 p.m. PDT on August 27
