Pisces Lunar Eclipse: Be Light on our Feet

Aug 27
15 min read

You have brains in your head.

You have feet in your shoes.

You can steer yourself

in any direction you choose.

You're on your own,

and you know what you know.

And you are the [one]

who'll decide where to go.

The Lunar Eclipse on August 27/28, 2026, at 5° Pisces, compels us to complete and release something in our life that is holding us back, and encourages a spirit of experimentation in how we make decisions and respond to life's surprises.

We may have a sudden realization or encounter a disruptive force that leads us to break away from something we have always done. A decision may need to be made quickly before we fully understand our options. There may be notable shifts in our habits, routines and daily lives. We are to avoid overthinking or overanalyzing a situation, and trust that intuitively know which direction to go.

A sudden and seismic release, much like an earthquake, is likely with Uranus in an exact T-Square with the Lunar Eclipse. Uranus is the Awakener, the Disrupter. Uranus rules earthquakes and sudden, unexpected events that alter our direction. We are to surrender to what is being moved to or away from us. While our best laid plans may be disrupted, a new perspective or solution can appear suddenly.

A Lunar Eclipse signals that we have arrived at a crucial crossroad, a breaking point. The need to complete or close out something in our lives is accelerated. In the days leading up to the eclipse, we may feel a mounting pressure to resolve something. Permanent changes and shifts are catalyzed that compel us to do something different so we can move forward. Eclipse energies unfold for up to six months after the eclipse.

A North Node Eclipse  pulls us toward our "true north", urging us to step out of our comfort zone, embrace an unfamiliar path, and align with your highest future potential. It brings hidden truths to light, making emotional realizations unavoidable. This eclipse will confirm if you are on the best path. If not, it may force adjustments that are overdue. The growth encouraged here can feel unfamiliar or intimidating because it asks us to leave comfortable habits behind. Unlike south node eclipses that focus on shedding the past, north node eclipses invite new chapters and commitments into your life which require that something be left behind in order to embrace them.

The Pisces Lunar Eclipse is Phase One. Typically, we feel the effects of an eclipse for six months. However, because the February 20, 2027 eclipse next winter is an almost exact mirror of this eclipse, this eclipse will be felt for a full year. We are encouraged to view the next year of our life as a great experiment, and thus to be light on our feet. Rather than trying to find the shortest way to reach out goals, like finding the shortest distance between points, we can embrace life as a creative act where we learn, shift and discover our path as we go. Rather than a straight line forward, life becomes a Cha Cha: two steps forward, one step back, repeat. Let the spirit of experimentation guide us and we may find opportunities beyond what we could have imagined for ourselves.

There are three areas of life activated by the Lunar Eclipse

Locate the house in your natal chart that contains

  • 5 Pisces to see the area of life where we can expect new shifts, awarenesses that ask you to leave something behind and venture out towards some new horizon or opportunity that is calling.

  • 5 Virgo to see where we are to have revelations around how our habits and routines can better ground us and lighten our load so we can better pursue our dreams.

  • 5 Gemini to see the area of life where we can anticipate unexpected events that disrupt best laid plans in order for us to realize something. This is also the area in life where we will make new choices and experience rapid development in the coming year.

Developing New Dreams and Skills to Meet the Moment

This is the grand finale after of series of Pisces eclipses that began in September 2024 (that dovetailed with Neptune and Saturn moving through the final degrees of Pisces in 2024 through the beginning of 2026). As we close out this 2-year eclipse journey, we are wrapping up a time of plot twists that resulted in big endings, learning to trust our intuition more, and deepening our relationship with something larger than ourselves to help guide our life.

If you are like me and most of my clients, you experienced a significant ending in the last year or two, where a dream, commitment or relationship came to a close. We have needed to release what is no longer a match for our lives. Clearing out the old opened space for something new and different to enter our lives. The Pisces Lunar Eclipse may catalyze yet another ending. It may be an ending we hoped to avoid or could feel coming and but are surprised how it seems to disappear from our lives, as if overnight.

The limitations of our rational mind became apparent over the last two year’s eclipses. As powerful as our mind is, it is insufficient to understanding or defining where we are heading or how to successfully navigate the coming changes. We recognize we control less than we thought (Virgo South Node). We have been building relationship with something beyond the mind to help guide our decision, which includes our heart, intuition, feelings, the divine… (Pisces North Node).

Our psychic energies are heightened with the Pisces Lunar Eclipse. We are closer to our emotions, sensitivities, creativity and spiritual impulses. We may have a night dream we feel compelled to act upon. It may be time to release a dream that has run its course. We are to celebrate what we are completing, ending or walking away from in the transformative journey of the last two years.

This is a hybrid eclipse. Typically the Sun and Moon are conjunct and in the same sign as the Nodes of Fate. But the lunar nodes have just changed signs and are at the 29th degree of Leo and Aquarius. We are beginning a new 18-month journey focused on releasing self-centeredness and pride so we can embrace a more expansive vision that offers us new pathways and choices that connect us with others. Our intellect and heart will be opened in new ways and we will be challenged to have them work together in a balanced, harmonious way.

The future is surrounded by fog. What is coming is unprecedented in our lives, and perhaps for humanity itself.  We need to develop Piscean sensibilities to guide us through the unknown territory ahead. What has worked up until now may not work for us moving forward.  A plan can give us a direction in which to walk, but we need to remain flexible, willing to experiment and make adjustments as we take life one step at a time.

When walking in a fog, or in the dark of night, it is not our eyes the guide us, and often not our knowledge of the terrain. My attention goes to my feet, and I find that my feet have an uncanny way of knowing where to take the next step. Its as if my feet can feel the path and can readily discern where the next sure step is found. Pisces rules feet and so opens us to other sensibilities available to us when the rational mind is insufficient to the task. So, if we are overwhelmed by life's choices, perhaps its time to take our shoes off and put our feet on the earth, or take a night walk without a flashlight.

The signature energy of the eclipse

An exact  Mutable T Square between Uranus and the Pisces Full Moon is the defining energetic of the lunar eclipse which holds the promise to disrupt, awaken and keep us on our toes. Looking at the components of the T-Square:

  • A Lunar Eclipse promises sudden shifts that realign us.

  • Uranus, planet of Awakening, reinforces the above promise, indicating that something may bring a thunderbolt realization or unexpected message that catalyzes a shift in our life.  It can be shocking or liberating or both.

  • The Pisces Moon conjunct the North Node heightens our intuition, feelings, creativity, and connection to the divine.  It invites us to listen deeply and to flow with where we feel guided to go. It requires that we complete and release what has come to an end, so we are free to respond to new opportunities.

  • The Virgo Sun conjunct the South Node brings revelations around routines, habits and how we approach daily life that is ready for a shift.  We may identify where are given to overthink things or where our desire to control outcomes has created stress and unease.

  • The mutable nature of T-Square necessitates an attitude of open-mindedness. It serves us to stay light on our feet, ready to pivot or shift direction. If we try to plant our feet and make a stand, we may be knocked off our feet. To benefit from the lunar eclipse, and minimize potential stress, we are to be adaptable, curious, ready to learn and be ready to quickly respond to a sudden invitation that comes our way.

Staying Light on Our Feet is the phrase that continually came into my head as I felt into the Pisces Lunar Eclipse, along with other common sayings about feet:

Getting knocked off our feet.

Staying on our feet

Finding our footing

Dragging our feet

Getting swept off our feet

Having cold feet

And then I remembered, Pisces rules feet.  In medical astrology, each sign rules one or more body parts. Pisces rules feet. Considering all the astrological alignments of the Eclipse, I found that the eclipse dynamics could be understand if we contemplate our feet.

but sometimes it seems

that the path is under our feet

Consider Our Feet...

As I was learning astrology, I found it odd that Pisces is the ruler of feet because feet ground us and Pisces is about intuition, creativity, and flights of fancy. I wondered what one had to do with the other.

To be honest, perhaps my seeing the Pisces Lunar Eclipse through the lens of our relationship with our feet is in part due to my present preoccupation with my own feet. Not long ago I pushed past my physical limits to achieve something I was determined to accomplish, which resulted in an acute case of plantar fasciitis. This has led me to being mindful of each step I take, as well as dedicating valuable time daily to doing exercises focused on my feet. I have a renewed sense of appreciation for my feet and what they do for me. Or... perhaps, it is the other way around, and it is the Pisces Lunar Eclipse that revealed an imbalance that lead me to focus on the care of my feet and being mindful of each step I take. Whichever it is...

Pisces, ruler of feet, points us to the relationship between our feet and the ground beneath as a constant negotiation between gravity and our dreams.

Our feet are in a perpetual conversation with the world beneath us. They form a threshold between worlds. As the body part furthest from our brain, they touch the earth while the rest of us reaches upward into experience and consciousness.

Our feet constantly sense and read subtle information: texture, temperature, vibration, direction and can be considered the most “psychic” part of the body. Many spiritual traditions emphasize bare feet, pilgrimage, walking meditation, or removing shoes before entering sacred space. The feet are the point of energetic exchange, where the boundary between self and world is thinnest, reflecting how we move through life guided by intuition and currents we cannot see.

The Piscean urge moves us towards unity and the dissolution of ego. As the 12th sign, Pisces marks the end of the cycle, the place where form dissolves back into source. The feet, at the end of the body’s vertical axis, signify completion, the moment where the journey meets the ground again. Our feet, seen through the lens of Pisces, become the anatomical keeper of endings, release, and return.

Pisces rules flow. Our feet govern gait, rhythm, the way we move through life. When our feet are aligned, our whole body moves in harmony. When they’re off, everything compensates. Pisces reflects this subtle misalignment and subtle healing, the small shifts that ripple through the entire system.

Embodying Pisces: As If Walking Two Feet Off the Ground

Our feet are the body part that tethers us to the here‑and‑now world. They anchor us in time, place, gravity, and direction. When Piscean energy rises, that anchoring loosens. The feet become less about contact with the literal ground and more about contact with the imaginal ground—the currents, moods, and inner tides that move us.

When inspiration, intuition, dreams, imagination surges and mundane boundaries dissolve: we feel swept off our feet, ungrounded, drifting, floating, This is the experience when we embody the Pisces expression!

Pisces rules the feet not because they ground us, but because it describes what happens when grounding gives way to something more fluid, more intuitive, more dreamlike. The feet are the part of the body most affected when we’re lifted by inspiration or carried by imagination. They show the moment when the physical world and the inner world trade places, and we begin walking on something less solid but more meaningful.

When the Pisces Expression is Out of Balance, Our Feet Suffer

Pisces governs the tides of inspiration, intuition, and surrender. The feet govern the act of staying on the earth. When those two forces fall out of harmony, we feel it in our feet.

Pisces dissolves boundaries, blurs edges, lifts us into imagination, intuition, dreams, longing, inspiration. The feet try to hold the line. They try to keep us here. When the Piscean tide is too strong, the feet can feel overwhelmed by the job of grounding. They can ache, swell, falter, lose stability, or feel strangely disconnected from the rest of the body. It’s the physical echo of being “swept off your feet,” “ungrounded,” or “walking two feet off the ground.”

The reverse is also true. When the feet have maladies, such as chronic pain, instability, injuries, inflammation, this can symbolize a difficulty with grounding, direction, or embodiment. Not in a medical sense, but in a symbolic, psychological, mythic sense. The feet are the part of us that says, “This is where I stand. This is the path I walk. This is the world I inhabit.” When they struggle, it can reflect a moment when the inner world is louder than the outer one, when imagination or emotion is pulling us away from the solid ground of daily life.

Lifestyle Changes

Sun/Mercury conjunction in Virgo

opposes the Pisces Moon, and at the apex of a yod with Pluto and Neptune

Virgo, an earth sign, pays attention to logistics, practicalities and analytical thinking. We may be feeling added pressure, stress, or discomfort. We may feel numb or paralyzed from the stress or worry we are carrying.  We ae at an evolutionary decision point. We are being compelled to reexamine our daily routines and make changes that suit our current needs and goals. We need to let go of something that has been comfortable but is slowing us down and preventing movement.

If we are to heed the call to be light on our feet, what shifts do we need to make in our lifestyle? There may be dietary changes or changes with sleep or exercise patterns. In response to heaviness, fatigue or persistent stress, we are compelled to identify where we overschedule, ask too much of ourselves, or hold ourselves to a high standard that is overtaxing our system. Now is the time to rebuild our daily routine so that we feel light enough, and free enough to adjust our course at a moment’s notice. 2026 and 2027 are life changing years where new ways and exciting, unexpected changes will open for us. We are to build a lifestyle that allows us to say yes to sudden opportunities. In the near future, we may be looking at creating new work skills, have a career change, move to a new location, or embark on a new relationship or venture. There are things we can do now that prepare us for this.

Fomalhaut, Watcher of the South and Mouth of The Fish

Fomalhaut, the brightest star in Piscis Austrinus (the Southern Fish), is one of the four Royal Stars of Persia, along with Aldebaran, Regulus, and Antares. In classical astrology, these stars are considered guardians of the heavens, with Fomalhaut ruling the winter solstice point. Its name derives from the Arabic Fum al-Hut, meaning "mouth of the fish," and it lies at the mouth of the Southern Fish, drinking from the cosmic, vision-inducing waters poured by Aquarius. The Royal stars are powerful and bestow many gifts but require that we maintain integrity and meet the challenges given us to receive these gifts and avoid misfortune.

Fomalhaut is the star of mysticism, insight, and the arts. It is bestowing on us a sense of magic around our ideals or visions. Its presence touches the deepest recesses of our soul, prodding us to trade our mundane attachments for a vision that transcends our ego. It invites us to bridge the gap between human limitation and divine inspiration, compelling us to align with our ideals. To utilize this energy effectively, we are to approach our future as a work of art so that it is mindful, meaningful, and entirely unique.

Fomalhaut's shadow side is found when we get lost in our ideals and lose touch with reality. This can range from living in fantasy to believing only in the fantasy and descending into madness. To harness the magic Fomalhaut offers, we cannot use the inspiration for personal gain or glory, or completely lose touch with physical realities, like paying rent or remembering to eat. Again, we return to the topic of feet. We can drink from the cup of inspiration, but then we are to find ways to embody it (not get swept away by it) and give it form.

Birds Aligned with the Pisces Lunar Eclipse

Time to Find our Wings

The Presence of Three Birds indicate journeys we are poised to take, both physical and spiritual. If we are about to take a physical journey, think of it as a pilgrimage. The transformational journey we are all called to take at this time will open us to new ways of relating to ourself and life.

A 4th magnitude star in the Constellation of the Phoenix, points to final endings and something new, magical, powerful rising from the ashes of what we have left behind.

A 4th magnitude star in the constellation of Pegasus, is the white flying horse of Greek myth, who emerged from the neck of Medusa after Perseus beheaded her. Again, we continue the theme of final endings, death and destruction, only to have something majestic and beautiful freed up by the loss of another.

Deneb Adige, a first magnitude star and Alpha star in Cygnus, the Swan.

Deneb Adige is the Tail of The Swan. Just as our feet at the end of our body, Deneb marks the last point on The Swan’s body. Stars in the tail of a constellation often act as “deliverers”; they bring matters to a conclusion, sometimes abruptly. Deneb’s influence drives us toward higher knowledge or spiritual aspiration. Its presence at the lunar eclipse may deliver us sudden revelations or inspired solutions.

Deneb, as the Tail of the Swan, represents the point of departure, the moment when the swan takes flight. This gives the star a unique role in questions of vocation and life direction: it often indicates a path that requires leaving the familiar behind to pursue a higher calling. This is one of the reasons it is called The Shaman Star. Egyptians saw this star as the exit of the birth canal of Nut, the great starry sky goddess. Through her birth canal, the Sun, Ra was born anew every winter solstice.

Deneb supports us to see ourselves as a bridge between the earth and the divine. Few of us are meant to be shamans, but we can all find a way to open to divine inspiration and bring it into form. This can happen through prayer and ritual, through our work, or in the creation of a piece of art. Ultimately, the star at the lunar eclipse gives us the means to explore how we can bring heaven to earth, and like Nut, give birth to something that will bring light and warmth to the world.

It's a miracle, and the dance

As we negotiate between gravity and our dreams, we can ask ourselves:

*Is there an daily activity that holds me back or weighing me down that I am ready to shift?

*What one habit can I change that can help me to feel lighter on my feet and in my heart?

*If I have a pattern of overthinking or overanalyzing, can I relax this by trusting my intuition and feelings around decisions?

* I am trying to keep a commitment that has me feeling unduly heavy or fatigued? If so, is it time to phase it out?

*How can I better listen to my feelings and intuition to guide a decision, and not rely solely on facts and logic?

*How can I deepen my trust in life and the larger forces that influence and shape my life?

*What can I do to foster a value for change and flexibility that will serve me through these times of change?

*What affirmation can I say that will help me move with life as a dance, where life is an experiment and choices make are more about trying something out and learning from it, and less about getting something right?

*Today, can I take off my shoes and feel my feet on the earth and listen for what they are telling me about my habits, routines, and the way I am approaching the future?

*What are my feet telling me? Are they happy? How can I better care and listen to them?
