One can choose to go back
toward safety or forward
toward growth. Growth
must be chosen again
and again; fear
must be overcome
again and again.
Abraham Maslow

The Full Moon on June 11, 2025, at 21 Sagittarius compels us to step out of our comfort zone and explore new possibilities.
Growth calls—not just in the external world, but within. Our confidence to venture into the unknown increases when we honor our vulnerability and acknowledge it as the root of our true strength. We are supported by the healing energies of a Fire Grand Trine (with Chiron, Mars and the Moon) which inspire renewed trust in our instinct to reach for a life that feels more nurturing, expansive and authentic.
New Moon Ruler: Jupiter enters Cancer
conjunct Mercury
square Saturn/Neptune
Mutable Grand Cross: The Full Moon square the Nodes of Fate
Fire Grand Trine: Moon, Mars and Chiron
Mars trine Chiron square Uranus
Small Grand Trine: Saturn, Neptune sextile Pluto and Uranus
Full Moons occur at the peak of each lunar cycle. The days leading up to the Full Moon bring increased momentum, activity and often a mounting pressure. At the Full Moon, emotions and tides run high. Something comes to a head and is experienced as crisis, clarity or breakthrough which can lead to resolution. During the two weeks following a Full Moon, we are completing the month's journey and distilling the wisdom of the recent lunar cycle, so we are ready for the invitation that is presented with the next New Moon.
The house where 18 – 22 degrees Sagittarius resides in our natal chart directs our attention to the area of life where we are ready to move beyond our comfort zone and take a risk to grow, to learn, to expand our knowledge and experience of life.

If you can't run, walk;
if you can't walk, crawl,
but keeping moving forward!
Martin Luther King, Jr.
Beyond Facts, We Take a Leap of Faith
Gemini/Sagittarius polarity
The Sagittarius spirit seeks adventure, always looking to some new horizon and new learning to expand and deepen their understanding. The Full Moon invitation carries us beyond the logistics and the facts we are weighing (Sun in Gemini) and urges us to take a leap of faith that will result in our capacity to connect the dots and arrive at an expanded perspective.
We can perhaps sense that if we try to just maintain what we have and stay where we are, we will stagnate in some way. All life seeks to grow, and the Full Moon cues us that it is time to move beyond the nest of familiarity, and explore untapped talents or interest we have. It may be time to check something else off our bucket list, book that flight, or sign up for a course. Perhaps there is something we are already committed to that is ready to evolve to a new level.
In the Gemini season, when the Sun is in Gemini, the emphasis is on logic, information, analysis and specifics. With Gemini’s dual nature we look to grasp different perspectives and examine topics from both sides of the story.
But no matter how much our mind circles round and round the accumulates facts, analyzes data or looks at a topic from different angles, the deeper understanding emerges when we apply the additional ingredient of intuitive wisdom that has been cultivated within us (Sagittarius). In doing this, we can put the puzzle pieces together. We are to trust the resulting perspective and enthusiasm it inspires. In other words, when the weighing of pros and cons fall away, we can hear the guidance of our heart and place our faith in what it tells us.
Growth or Comfort. Must I Choose?
Full Moon Ruler: Jupiter in Cancer
Jupiter is about Growth, fueling, enhancing and growing whatever area of life and whatever planet it touches. It spends a year in each sign, providing us with a twelve year cycle to grow all areas of our life, before we circle around to begin the same the process again.
Just entered Cancer on June 9, 2025, magnifying the presence of the archetypal sacred energy of Mother, inviting us to spend the next year growing and giving generous attention to the themes of nurturance, comfort, empathy, family, and safety in our life. Jupiter's invitation runs counter to the overall 2025 dynamic promises to big changes, pivotal shifts, and an overall quickening of our daily pace (Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto changing into air and fire signs). Jupiter is tying us to our feeling nature, reminding us that in the midst of big shifts and movements that we remember to nurture our humanity, care for those we love, and honor our needs. In heeding Jupiter’s challenge, we may need to slow ourselves down. By consciously slowing down our pace, we can better embody the changes happening and thus integrate the decisions and new directions into our body, heart and psyche.
Jupiter is in mutual reception with the Full Moon, meaning they are in each’s other’s ruling sign (Jupiter in Cancer and the Moon in Sagittarius). This indicates that there is a deep reciprocity between the Moon and Jupiter, accentuating the emotional energy of the Full Moon.
Sagittarius has a entirely different flavor than Cancer. On an emotional level, the Sagittarian Moon stirs our desire to grow, learn, explore and move beyond the security and safety of what we know. We want to discover something new.
To reconcile the impulses of Sagittarius and Cancer is challenging, but we are supported to meet this challenge. With Jupiter and the Moon in mutual reception, we are shown how these two urges can blend; we are not to favor one over the other, but to see the necessity and wisdom inherent in choosing both the desire for adventure and the exploration of untapped potentials with the desire to nurture our sense of belonging and the feeling of being at home in our life.

All growth starts
at the end
of your comfort zone.

A story from the distant past...
Eunice Fitch, my great, great, great grandmother, came into my thoughts as I was contemplating the Full Moon invitation as an example of how to blend the Sagittarian and Cancer urges.
In 1816, Eunice married Joel Crane and they began their life together in Albany, NY. As the state capitol and oldest city in New York, Albany in the early 19th century was sophisticated and a hub for education, research and culture. Eunice gave birth to her first child a year later and was more or less pleased with the life she had created for herself, and then when one day a couple years into their marriage, Joel came home with an unexpected declaration: he was yearning for the pioneer life, and it was time the family go west.
Upon learning that the U.S. Government was offering land in Indiana for a dollar an acre, Joel took it as the sign he had been waiting for. Bitten by the Sagittarian bug of adventure, he was ready to explore something beyond the walls of what he already knew. In some way, Joel was feeling that his life had become limited and was stagnating; he was ready to take a risk and open to wherever an adventure would take him, as long as it carried him far away from the predictability and certainty of the life he was living.
Eunice was feeling no such calling. She felt no such calling. Like Jupiter in Cancer, she longed to stay close to home, nurturing the security and certainty of her life in Albany. So, predictably, she put her foot down and said, "What you propose is insanity. I am not going anywhere."
Eunice and Joel were locked in a battle of wills—a clash between the restless urges of Sagittarius and the deeply rooted instincts of Cancer. In the end, Eunice yielded to her husband's longing for the pioneer life, perhaps motivated by her desire to prove herself as a devoted and supportive wife. But she yielded with one condition: Her tea set would come with her and no matter what each day brought, they would observe the ritual of afternoon tea.
,
One of the stipulations for everyone who would ride the raft down the river, into an untamed and virtual wilderness, was that the travelers bring no luggage or belongings beyond what they could wear on their body. But somehow, through the sheer will of Eunice’s demand and her husband advocating for her condition to be honored, permission was granted. Not only did her tea set accompany her down the Ohio River, but each afternoon their raft was banked, a fire was started at the shoreline, water was boiled, and everyone on board the raft enjoyed afternoon tea together.
A family photo from the mid-1800s has survived that shows the inside room of a very crude and rustic log cabin. Even the furniture was roughly cut from large tree trunks. There was a very large fireplace with a mantle over it. In the center of the mantle was a white China teapot. One either side was a creamer and sugar set. Under each was a white lace doily. They stood out in part because they were the only items in the room that were not dark and made of wood.
Gazing at the photo, I saw the tea set—so prominently and lovingly displayed in that log cabin. I had the distinct impression that within the wildness of frontier life, the tea set embodied the qualities of home that she cherished and needed. Looking at the photo, I remember taking a deep breath in and found myself thinking as I looked at the tea set juxtaposed to its surroundings, ‘ah, civilization.’
I have often thought of my great, great, great grandmother Eunice and how alike we are. I am up for an adventure, as long as I can have my creature comforts, something that is familiar that nurtures me and has me feel safe and cared for.
Our First Task with the Full Moon:
Just as home-loving, security-conscious Eunice embraced her husband’s desire to Go West, we can ask ourselves:
What new adventure am I ready for that will take me beyond my comfort zone (Sagittarius Moon)?
And what do I need to put in place to care for my needs that will support me to feel safe enough (Jupiter in Cancer) to continue on the journey ?

Nurture Receptivity
Mercury and Jupiter in Cancer
Mercury conjunct Jupiter. The Full Moon has our thoughts infused with and shaped by our feelings. Our thoughts change as our mood changes. We are feeling in some way tired of thinking, strategizing, researching, analyzing, and that perhaps we have been overthinking things (Sun in Gemini, Jupiter following a year in Gemini).
Our ever-curious mind is needing a break. We are to carve out time and space to unplug, to feel, and to receive. Until the June 25 New Moon, we are to schedule in unstructured time each day where we can watch the clouds floating by, observe the path or a butterfly, or watch the grass grow. Giving our mind permission to quiet itself, we can enter the spaciousness of the present moment. Becoming absorbed by the moment, we can enter a mental state that imagines there is nowhere to go and nothing to do, no agenda and nothing to accomplish. It is within this state that we will receive the insight, the message we are needing. The perspective or answer we seek arrives in a moment of peace and not in the busyness of chasing after and grasping for it.
Jupiter and Mercury in Cancer square Neptune and Saturn in Aries. The sky’s dynamics further amplify and reinforce the directive to initiate or pioneer some new direction in our life (Neptune and Saturn in Aries) along with an equally compelling encouragement to further nurture ourself, our home life, and our connection with those we love (Jupiter and Mercury in Cancer). The belief that we can only develop one these at the expense of the other is challenged. Again, we are to contemplate and make decisions on how we can honor and meet both impulses.
Our Second Task with the Full Moon:
Identify the houses where both Aries and Cancer reside in your natal chart. These two houses are pivotal hotspots for maximizing available potentials for the next year.
Contemplate the areas of life associated with the house where Aries is in your chart to seek insight on where you are ready for growth, and where you will most likely launch yourself into something new and unprecedented.
Contemplate the areas of life associated with the house where Cancer is in your chart to identify where you can bring forth your nurturing energy so that that area of life is enhanced by your empathy, compassion and love.
These two houses are in a natural ‘square’ – in dynamic conflict. Contemplate what actions you might take to resolve the tension between the masculine (Aries) and the feminine (Cancer) as embodied in the two houses you have identified so they can collaborate, support and uplift the other.
The Aries impulse is the stronger one because Saturn and Neptune will be in Aries for several years, longer than Jupiter and Mercury will be hanging out in Cancer. Listen to and validate what you intuit is new and promising. Find ways to honor your feelings and needs as you embrace the call to adventure. Identify what is your 'tea set’ that belonging, ritual or behavior that will allow you to hop on a raft that will carry you to destinations unknown.
Understanding how The Aries and Cancer dynamic is playing out in your chart and life is valid not just for this month but also for the next year as the planets involved continue to magnify these themes in our lives. If you need support with this, I recommend you schedule an astrology reading to explore how to embrace the potentials opening for you.

We are Playing with Fire
Mars in Leo square Uranus and in a Fire Grand Trine
Our confidence fueled, we are primed to trust and act on our feelings and desires (Fire Grand Trine with Chiron, Moon and Mars). Passions are high and we can be enthusiastically motivated to boldly explore new ways to live. And there is a cautionary note here as there is a distinct tendency towards fanning the flames of impatience, rebellion and violence (Mars square Uranus). If we are mindful of how we tend to the fire rising within us, we can sidestep potential volatile or aggressive interactions. We are capable of great acts of courage (Leo Mars in a Grand Trine). The key, in directing the impassioned fiery Mars energies coursing through us, is found in staying connected to the vulnerability of our heart so our actions are infused with love.
The Way Forward is Beyond the Mind's Reach
Mutable Grand Cross: The Sun, Moon and Nodal Axis
We may feel pressure and stress around a choice or upcoming decision. The key to resolving this is to realize that there is no right path and there is no wrong path. Any choice we make will lead to exploration, growth, and increased understanding. This is life; from the Sagittarian perspective, we are on a path of perpetual adventure and discovery. If we perceive that all rivers lead to the ocean, then any path is a viable one. There are no mistakes or failures, just learnings. In this spirit, the Sagittarius Moon invites us to be lighter, less serious in how we consider which road to take. We have only to take the step that carries us in a new direction, and in so doing, embrace the adventure and play of life.
The Full Moon square the Pisces North Node. We are at an turning point in our emotional development. Our belief systems are being highlighted so we can approach and perceive some aspect of our life in a new way (North Node in Pisces). There is an emotional risk in choosing something new, but the Sagittarius Moon says that no matter what we choose, we will grow from it and that is what matters most. We are not to be overthinking the decision. The important thing is that we make a decision to go in a new direction. Failure to choose however invites stagnation. The choice we make carry us beyond our emotional comfort zone and carry us into new ways to nurture, feel, and establish comfort for ourselves.
The Sagittarius Moon square the Virgo South Node illuminates thinking patterns that have limited our growth and freedom of movement. Our mind has an invaluable role to play in making decisions, implementing plans, but can become exhausted or discouraged if it tries to be in full control of our life. Most of us have been socialized by modern western culture to rely on rationale mind at the detriment of our intuitive, imaginative and feeling powers. Our reliance on analysis and on doing things right, as if there is a right or perfect way, have in some way held us back from perceiving and benefitting from the synchronicities, grace, and magic of life.
If we think for a moment about the best things in our life – the people, our job, where we live – can we identify the actions we took that brought these these things into our lives? Chances are at we will not be able to identify any direct action we took to acquire one thing we value in our life. It seemed to have dropped into our lap, appearing as if by magic. If our mind can appreciate that it is limited in its capacity to manifest what we need and open to letting our heart guide us to move towards what feels good, we can invite the magic of life to gift us with support, people and resources that lie beyond what we could ever imagine or plan out for ourselves.
